SciGuide is an electronic directory of foreign and Russian open access scientific resources on the Internet. The aim of the directory is to assist users to locate open access academic and scholarly content and to facilitate science communication for researchers and experts of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (SB RAS). The directory is being developed jointly by the Branch and the Department of Collection Development and Acquisitions of the State Public Scientific Technical Library of SB RAS.

Open-access books and journals (cambridge.org/core/publications/open-access)  ►Cambridge University Press is the publishing division of the University of Cambridge, one of the world’s leading research institutions and winner of 81 Nobel Prizes. Cambridge University Press is committed by its charter to disseminate knowledge as widely as possible across the globe. It publishes over 2,500 books a year for distribution in more than 200 countries. Cambridge Journals publishes over 250 peer-reviewed academic journals across a wide range of subject areas, in print and online.
*Cornell University Library Historical Mathematics Monographs (collections.library.cornell.edu/math/)  ► The Cornell University Library Historical Mathematics Monographs is a collection of selected monographs with expired copyrights chosen from the mathematics field. These were monographs that were brittle and decaying and in need of rescue. The Cornell Historic Math Monograph Collection consists of digital surrogates for materials that were part of a joint study involving Digital Preservation between Cornell University and the Xerox Corporation.
*De Gruyter Open (degruyter.com)* De Gruyter is the largest independent academic publisher of open access books, with more than 1000 available open access books .
*DePaul University Library Digital Collections (digicol.lib.depaul.edu/)  ► The DePaul University Library Digital Collections contain digitized books, manuscripts, images, maps and other materials held by the University Library. Dating from 1493 to the mid-20th century, DePaul's map collections contain cartographic creations by early modern mapmakers and printers such as Münster, Ortelius, Mercator, and Jansson and progress through Bonne's new global representations for Diderot's 1788 Encyclopédie to the transit and tourism routes of Chicago's Century of Progress and beyond.
*Digital Bodleian (digital.bodleian.ox.ac.uk/)  ► Discover over a million images of rare books, manuscripts, and other treasures from the Bodleian libraries and Oxford College.
*DOAB (www.doabooks.org/)* DOAB (Directory of open access books). The service enables searching for peer-reviewed books that have been published with open access licence.
*E-Books Directory (www.e-booksdirectory.com)*E-Books Directory is a daily growing list of links to freely accessible ebooks, documents and lecture notes found all over the internet. You can submit your own ebooks, or add other resources you come across. This website is now completely redesigned to be accessible to mobile devices with small screen sizes.
*Economics and Business Literature (aup.ru/library/)  ►Most books available in the collection are textbooks and research monographs on economics, industrial management and marketing, as well as mathematical tools for economics and finance.
*European Digital Mathematics Library (eudml.org)* EuDML (European Digital Mathematics Library) is a library for digital books and journals in mathematics.
*Free Economic Society of Russia. Electronic Library (veorus.ru/библиотека-вэо/труды-императорского-вэо/1915/)  ► Proceedings of the Free Economic Society of Russia issued in 1765-1915.
*Freebookcentre.net (www.freebookcentre.net)*Freebookcentre.net contains links to thousands of free online technical books, which include core computer science, networking, programming languages, Systems Programming books, Linux books and many more.
*FreeBooks4doctors (freebooks4doctors.com)*FreeBooks4doctors promotes free access to medical books on cardiology, dermatology, hematology, neurology etc. There are books on English, German, Russian and other languages.
*FreeComputerBooks (freecomputerbooks.com)*A huge collection of Free online Computer, Programming, Mathematics, Engineering, and Technical Books, Lecture Notes and Tutorials. It is very well categorized by topics. It has both pattern and keywords search engines for you to find the titles quickly. The keywors search engine is powered by Google.
*FreeTechBook (www.freetechbooks.com)*This site lists free online computer science, engineering and programming books, textbooks and lecture notes, all of which are legally and freely available over the Internet.
*Google books search (books.google.com)* Search for full text books. Some materials are available for partial free access.
*Gumer (gumer.info/)* A collection of Russian full text humanitarian books and articles.
*HathiTrust’s digital library (hathitrust.org/)  ► Founded in 2008, HathiTrust is a not-for-profit collaborative of academic and research libraries preserving 17+ million digitized items. HathiTrust offers reading access to the fullest extent allowable by U.S. copyright law, computational access to the entire corpus for scholarly research, and other emerging services based on the combined collection. HathiTrust members steward the collection — the largest set of digitized books managed by academic and research libraries — under the aims of scholarly, not corporate, interests.
*The Hispanic Digital Library (bne.es/)  ► The Hispanic Digital Library is the digital library of the Biblioteca Nacional de España. It provides access free of charge to thousands of digitised documents, including books printed from the 15th to the 19th century, manuscripts, drawings, engravings, pamphlets, posters, photographs, maps, atlases, music scores, historic newspapers and magazines and audio recordings.
*JSTOR (about.jstor.org/whats-in-jstor/books/)* Open access books on JSTOR. The titles are DRM-free; no limits on PDF downloading or printing. No need to register or log in to JSTOR to access the titles.
*KnigoGid (BookGuide) (https://knigogid.ru/)* A non-commercial Russian site offering users’ book recommendations and exchange of various kinds of texts.
*Lib.Ru: Maxim Moshkov’s Digital Library (lib.ru/)  ► The most well known Russian digital library was launched in 1994. Its topics include fiction, science fiction, philosophy, esotery, history etc.
*Librusek (librusec.club/)  ► A free online collection of books in Russian. It features mystery stories, adventures, classical literature and other genres, as well as comments of readers and book reviews.
*Manuscriptorium (www.manuscriptorium.com* European Electronic Library «Manuscriptorium». Manuscripts and other historical documents (manuscripts, incunabula, early printed books, maps, charters and other types of documents). The founder of the resource and the content coordinator is the National Library of the Czech Republic.
*Manuscript and rare books collections (lib-fond.ru/  ► Manuscript and rare books collections located in the State Russian Library and Moscow State Central Archive, presented by The Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra Church. This website is part of a project of the Russian State Library and The Holy Trinity-St. Sergius Lavra church, one of the most important centers of Russian orthodoxy. The aim of the project is to gather a "universal collection of written and graphic manuscripts in Latin, ancient Church Slavonic and Greek languages as well as modern Slavonic, West European and Eastern languages." The collection includes rare documents and manuscripts from the 12th to the 20th century (liturgical books, annual chronicles, documents related to economic and social history, etc.). The website currently offers access to 2954 digitised manuscripts, unique books and treatises.
*Machine Construction Library (lib-bkm.ru/load/)* The project has been launched many years ago and then was focused on documents related to metal lathes design and technology. Now the digital collection contains literature on machine engineering, machine design, high pressure metal processing. No registration is required.
*Medlib (med-lib.ru/)  ► The site features handbooks, encyclopedias, monographs on all branches of medicine in Russian and English.
*ModernLib.Net (modernlib.net/)  ► A collection of books in Russian and other languages, textbooks, graduation works, etc.
*Moshkov’s Digital Library (lib.ru/)  ► A major Russian internet library, started in 1994. Contains modern and classic works of fiction, science fiction, nonfiction, historical literature, poetry, philosophy etc.
*National Library of Medicine. Bookshelf (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/books)  ► The National Center for Biotechnology Information. NCBI Bookshelf provides free online access to books and documents in life science and healthcare. Search, read, and discover.
*Nasjonalbiblioteket (/www.nb.no/nbsok/search?mediatype=bøker)* Free access to more than 135,000 copyright-protected books published in Norway.
*Nonfiction (nehudlit.ru/)  ► Catalogue of Russian sites containing free nonfiction books.
*OAPEN Library (oapen.org)* OAPEN (Open Access Publishing in European Networks) is a full text data base that is supported by European consortium of university scientific publishers and offers an access to more than 7000 book units in English and other european languages on humanities and social sciences, including society and social sciences, economics, law, history, literary studies, language, and arts.
*Old Book Illustrations (oldbookillustrations.com)* Old Book Illustrations offers a wide range of public domain, royalty-free images scanned from old books. Not all of the illustrations at Old Book Illustrations date from the Victorian era, though most do. Some of the more striking exceptions come from Arthur Rackham, known primarily as an early 20th century illustrator of fantasies and folk tales.
*Old Books (starieknigi.info/)  ► The collection features a vast amount of Russian books on archaeology, history, philology, genealogy, philosophy published before 1917. The editions became available thanks to the Google Books Search as well as many other electronic libraries. The main goal of the project is to collect and arrange in a single catalogue link references to electronic books on the above mentioned topics.
*One-Stop Window (window.edu.ru/)  ► Single window for accessing Russian educational resources. A wealth of resources on various areas of general and professional education. A collection of textbooks and monographs for high school and colleges students and professors.
*Online Books Page (onlinebooks.library.upenn.edu)* Supported by the University of Pennsylvania, this is a website that offers free access to more than a million of books.
*Open Textbook Library (open.umn.edu/opentextbooks)* Manuals for different subjects. Supported by the University of Minnesota. It contains more than 150 manuals on economics, mathematics, natural and humanitarian scinces.
*Organic Syntheses (www.orgsyn.org)*Organic Syntheses Free electronic version of printed Organic Syntheses series - detailed reliable experimental methods for the synthesis of organic compounds.
*PaperC (paperc.de)*Plattform zum kostenlosen Lesen von Fachbuechern im Internet.
*PDF Books World (pdfbooksworld.com/)  ► PDF Books World offers free eBooks on fiction, non-fiction, academic, textbooks and children's categories for download online in high quality PDF format.Book reading has transformed from Paper editions to electronic formats and contemporary reading is not just limited to Personal Computers but to various handheld devices like Tablets and Mobiles. Considering the demand for e-reading in cross-platform devices books have been created with separate editions optimized for devices of different screen size like PCs,Tablets and Mobiles. Membership registration is required to download pdf books online.
*PDF Drive (www.pdfdrive.com/)  ► PDF Drive is a free search engine which allows you to search, preview and download millions of PDF files into your devices. Our crawlers are constantly scanning the world wide web to add PDF files to our database. In the case that PDF files are withdrawn from the web, then they are also immediately withdrawn from PDF Drive search results. In this way, our PDF Drive library stays up-to-date, while continuously growing and offering you an enormous database to search. All files have cover photos which helps you save time.
*Princeton Digital Library of Islamic Manuscripts (pudl.princeton.edu)*Supported by Princeton University, a digital collection that offers medieval Islamic manuscripts.
*Project Gutenberg (www.gutenberg.org)*Project Gutenberg (PG) is a volunteer effort to digitize and archive cultural works, to "encourage the creation and distribution of eBooks". It was founded in 1971 by American writer Michael S. Hart and is the oldest digital library. Most of the items in its collection are the full texts of public domain books. The project tries to make these as free as possible, in long-lasting, open formats that can be used on almost any computer. As of 23 June 2018, Project Gutenberg reached 57,000 items in its collection of free eBooks.
*Royal Society of Chemistry. Open Access (rsc.org/)  ► Journals, books and databases of the Royal Society of Chemistry in open access.
*RoyalLib (royallib.com/)  ► A collection of fiction and research literature published in Russia.
*Russian Centre for Scientific Information. Electronic Library (rfbr.ru/rffi/ru/library)  ► Free access to books published by the Russian Foundation for Basic Research or with the help of its financial assistance programs.
*Sanskrit Library (sanskritlibrary.org/)* Supported by Harvard University, a digital library dedicated to facilitating education and research in Sanskrit by providing access to digitized primary texts and computerized research and study tools to analyze and maximize their utility.
*Savine’ Book Collection (archive.org/details/savine)* Books contributed by the André Savine Collection at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hil. The André Savine Collection is composed of several large sub-collections documenting the lives of Russian exiles. The most distinguished of these, named by Savine “Militaria,” documents the life of the Russian White Army in Gallipoli and beyond.
*Science Books Online (sciencebooksonline.info/)  ►Science Books Online is a directory of free science texts, e-books, monographs, lecture notes, and other science related documents. All texts are available for free access, authorized by their respective authors or publishers -- no pirated books here. This website is now completely revamped and accommodated to mobile and tablet users. For desktop users the look is almost the same as before. Now you can use the drop-down menu near the upper-left corner of the screen to instantly access the main book categories.
*SCIK (scik.org)* SCIK is a quickly growing publishing house of books and jounals on natural and technical science and medicine.
*SCOPE (www.scopenvironment.org)*SCOPE is focused on global environmental issues. All books and reports are available in .html or .pdf format.
*Soviet Union Textbooks (sheba.spb.ru/shkola.htm)  ► A collection of USSR school textbooks.
*Theater Library (teatr-lib.ru)*The Theater Library collected by Anton Sergeev encompasses material offering significant insight into theatre and performance studies.
*Vsenauka (vsenauka.ru/)  ► A unique collection of Russian language research and popular science books selected by a team of experts and acquired for the project by crowdfunding and owing to financial aid of Innopraktika.
