*American Mineralogist Crystal Structure Database*This site is an interface to a crystal structure database that includes every structure published in the American Mineralogist, The Canadian Mineralogist, European Journal of Mineralogy and Physics and Chemistry of Minerals, as well as selected datasets from other journals. The database is maintained under the care of the Mineralogical Society of America and the Mineralogical Association of Canada, and financed by the National Science Foundation.
*Breathing Earth (www.breathingearth.net)*A project of polish designer David Bleja that offers real-time updated data on carbon dioxide emissions, birth and death rates all over the Earth.
*GeoGratis (geogratis.gc.ca/)* A portal provided by the Earth Sciences Sector (ESS) of Natural Resources Canada (NRCan) which provides geospatial data. The geospatial data are grouped in over 100 collections and are compatible with the most popular geographic information systems (GIS), with image analysis systems and the graphics applications of editing software.
*Global Volcanism Program (www.volcano.si.edu/index.cfm)* A project of the Smithsonian Institution's Global Volcanism Program (GVP) that deals with the research in the field of global volcanic activity. Thematic interactive maps, diagrams, and other sources are provided.
*International Directory Network (earthdata.nasa.gov)* The CEOS International Directory Network home page and search client serve as NASA’s contribution to the Committee on Earth Observation Satellites. The IDN provides access to more than 32,000 Earth science data set descriptions (stored in NASA's Common Metadata Repository) which cover subject areas within Earth and environmental sciences.
*International Directory Network (IDN) (idn.ceos.org/)*A gateway to the world of Earth Science data. The site of The Committee on Earth Observation Satellites, an international organization created in 1984 around the topic of Earth observation satellites. The CEOS IDN is an international effort developed to assist researchers in locating information on available datasets. The directory is sponsored as a service to the Earth science community.
*Mindat.org (www.mindat.org)*Mindat.org is the world's largest open database of minerals, rocks, meteorites and the localities they come from. It is an outreach project of the Hudson Institute of Mineralogy, a not-for-profit organization.
*Mineralogy Database (webmineral.com)*The site contains 4,714 individual mineral species descriptions with links and a comprehensive image library. crystallography, crystal structures, chemical composition, physical and optical properties. The Mineralogy Database was last updated on 9/5/2012.
*NASA Earth Observatory (earthobservatory.nasa.gov/)  ► The NASA Earth Observatory is a visually stimulating portal to a wealth of information from the Earth Observing System Project Office at NASA Goddard Space Flight Center. The Observatory’s mission is “to share with the public the images, stories, and discoveries about the environment, Earth systems, and climate that emerge from NASA research, including its satellite missions, in-the-field research, and models.” The Observatory’s content is best experienced via browsing or by serendipitously clicking on the tags and related links that are provided. There is however a very basic search option on the site. All the content is rich with images, most of which are free to reuse (unless copyright is indicated).
*OneGeology Portal (portal.onegeology.org)* This site offers an interactive geology world map with the possibility to extend it by a variety of layers (lithological indicators, the age of rocks etc.). The data are provided in English and French.
*OpenGeoData (opengeodata.ru)* Catalogue of open resources on geology, geophysics, hydrogeology, meteorology, etc. The website also contains information about the available free software for geological applications.
*OpenGeoscience (www.bgs.ac.uk/opengeoscience)* А free service where you can view maps, download data, scans, photos and other information. The services available under OpenGeoscience are listed below, and include: view geology data through the Geology of Britain map window and as WMS, access to over a million borehole scans, search and download photos from the GeoScenic geological photo archive, view our published paper maps and sections from 1832 to 2014 and publications from 1835 to the present.
*Seismic Monitor (www.iris.edu/seismon)*Created in 1984 with the support of National Science Foundation, an interactive map of world seismic activity that has been made by a consortium of 100 U.S. research institutions.
